Rasmussen Poll: 59% of Americans Would Vote to Replace Entire Congress
The American People know this Congress is–with very few exceptions–horrible. According to a new new poll out from Rasmussen Reports:
Congress was front and center in the national news last week and the American people were far from impressed. If they could vote to keep or replace the entire Congress, 59% of voters would like to throw them all out and start over again. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that just 17% would vote to keep the current legislators in office.
Today, just 23% have even a little confidence in the ability of Congress to deal with the nation’s economic problems and only 24% believe most Members of Congress understand legislation before they vote on it.
Guess what? Congress has announced that will conduct hearings on the current financial crisis. No one cares. We don’t have confidence in you. By the way, wouldn’t have been a good idea to conduct these hearings before passing the socialist bailout? But I’m just ignorant citizen. I can’t possibly know more than a Congressman!
Just how low is the confidence level?
Only half (49%) believe that the current Congress is better than individuals selected at random from the phone book. Thirty-three percent (33%) believe a randomly selected group of Americans could do a better job and 19% are not sure.
That pretty much sums it up, at least you would think, but the morons in Congress last week–particularly the Senate–were praising each other for their hard work on the socialist bailout. It’s unbelievable.
Just remember, we’re voting and paying for this lack of representation.
From a campaign perspective, this a great opportunity for the McCain-Palin ticket to hammer home the fact that Gov. Palin is a Washington outsider and McCain’s a maverick. Let’s see if they do it.
