Cap and Trade Explained

This is a guest post from my friend Matt over at the Conservative Hideout.

We conservatives have a habit of referring to liberals as “naive.”  On the surface, that seems pretty accurate.  They propose policies that are proven to kill jobs, harm the economy, and otherwise cause the exact opposite of their stated intent.  They persist in these, in spite of the obvious damage that they do, and blame conservatives for the failures.  There is one problem with this assessment…

It’s wrong.

Yes, their policies do cause damage and misery, but the naive part…I don’t really think that’s the case.  I mean, sure, there are lower level peons in the rank and file that really believe that Cap and Trade is going to save the planet, and there are probably people that think that Obamacare is going to save the health care system, but these people are the pawns.  They are used to threaten, intimidate, show up for rent-a-mob functions, and to do anything else that needs doing to achieve the objective.  They are the foot soldiers of the liberal movement, and they have little to no clue about the intent of their leaders.  The leaders, on the other hand, know exactly what they are doing.  For all of their failures, they are intelligent, and they know history and economics.  They know what their policies will cause.

As the past of the POTUS has come to light, more and more information about community organizers has come to the public’s attention.  We have learned about the Alinsky method, and how the POTUS has trained others in its use.  We have also learned about the work of Cloward and Piven, which is really the focus of today’s post.  Cloward and Piven published an article in 1966 titled, “The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to End Poverty” in the May 2, 1966 issue of The Nation.  Their strategy is simple; to place excessive demands on systems until they reach a crisis state.  When that occurs, asAlinski put it

“Make the enemy live up to their (sic) own book of rules,” Alinsky wrote in his 1972 bookRules for Radicals. When pressed to honor every word of every law and statute, every Judaeo-Christian moral tenet, and every implicit promise of the liberal social contract, human agencies inevitably fall short. The system’s failure to “live up” to its rulebook can then be used to discredit it altogether, and to replace the capitalist “rule book” with a socialist one.

So, the idea is to damage a system so badly, that it will “have to” be replaced.    The damage is done incrementally, by placing ever-increasing demands upon the target, until it can no longer cope.  They pass one law now, another regulation next week, a few more next year, until the weight on the targeted system reaches a tipping point- and it crashes.

To eliminate, or radically change our economic, political, and social systems, the economy must be stressed until it breaks. This is where Cap and Trade comes in.  It will follow where high taxes, high regulation, unreasonable demands by labor unions, and older environmental regulations leave off.   By causing the cost of energy to rise to unprecedented levels, and limiting the supply, the government will create the following:

  1. Higher energy costs per family of about $3900 a year. If you want to be amused, Google the costs of Cap and Trade and see the other side try to spin this.
  2. Gasoline, that, depending on the estimates, can range between $5-$7 a gallon.
  3. Millions of lost jobs.

These, in combination with the tax increases coming next year, as well as the insane costs of “messiahcare,” if it is passed, will collapse the economy.   Each of these components are meant to crush our economic system by placing demands on it that cannot be met.  The left KNOWS it will do this.  That IS the expectation.  The slogans, creative names, and rhetoric are propaganda to unite the useful idiots. They go out, and in combination with the MSM, “sell” these plans to the people.  Then, when the negative consequences come-and they WILL, these same forces will turn and blame the following for the crisis:

  1. Conservatives
  2. Corporations
  3. The free market
  4. Freedom
  5. Your car, or worse, SUV
  6. Your AC
  7. Your lifestyle
  8. Your “greed”
  9. You

See where this all is leading?  They will cripple the economy.  That, in turn, will cause you to “feel the pain.”  Maybe you lose your job.  Maybe you can’t afford things due to the higher costs.  Maybe you lose your home.  That’s OK with them, because if they can make you hurt enough, you might just give up your freedom for security.  Then, they win.  That’s the plan.

Cap and Trade isn’t about the environment.  It never was. The higher ups on the left have to be aware that AGW is a hoax.  They’re simply using it to accomplish their goals.    It’s about creating a crisis in order to grab more and more power.  That power can then be used to create to socialist “utopia” that the left has longed for.

When the messiah states that the country is to be “transformed,” he is not exaggerating.  It will be transformed.  That is the plan.  Create a crisis, then offer socialism as a “solution.”  They will count on a desperate people to forget about freedom and embrace…”change.”
